This wine is a blend from several small parcels located in our estate vineyards here in the heart of the famed Stag Leap District within the Napa Valley. This Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2005 vintage, shows the wonderful balance that was achieved with the vintage. We were able to harvest at optimal ripeness with great flavors in the fruit. Each of the individual parcels were fermented separately in small one-ton stainless steel tanks. Fermentation temperatures were kept in the mid 80’s to maintain as much of the fruit characteristics of the wine while still maximizing the extraction of color and flavors. Once fermentation was complete the tanks were drained and the skins were pressed out. The resulting wines were placed into small French Oak barrels where it has aged gracefully for the past 20 months. Each of the lots were kept separate through the aging process. As bottling approached we selected only our favorite barrels from our favorite Cabernet lots from which to make this reserve blend. The wines were then racked, and the final blend was assembled. The wine was filtered and bottled with no additional fining. This wine is very approachable right now and will continue to develop wonderfully for the next three to ten years. We hope you enjoy drinking the wine as much as we have enjoyed making it!

Great dark purple, ruby and brick color. Loads of blackberry, cherry and cassis mixed with sage and mineral notes, predominate the nose. In the mouth this wine shows power and intensity with a strong backbone of tannins and acid framed with juicy blackberry and currant fruit flavors. The finish is supple and lingers on and on. An excellent selection from this Stags Leap Vineyard

The grapes for this Bordeaux style blend come from the Robinson Family Vineyards located in southern Napa. Being in the cooler, southeast end of the valley means that the harvest of this fruit occurs several weeks later than up valley fruit. The cooler temperatures also help provide the true fruit characteristics of this wine. Each of the vineyard blocks used were sampled and harvested separately to maximize fruit ripeness. Once in the winery each block was individually fermented in small stainless steel tanks. Fermentation temperatures were kept in the mid eighties to help maximize the fruit in the finished wine. Color is deep garnet red to purple, almost black. A mouth filling wine showing flavors of cola with minerals and spices. Layered with blueberries and plums, there is a rich current of vanilla and creamy notes, all with a well balanced acidity. There are soft, well integrated tannins on the finish.
